QUESTION 9 (by a visitor to PianoMagic.com):
I've never played before and don't have a piano. Can I learn to play good songs with your method, or will I be limited to London Bridge and Mary Had A Little Lamb?

ANSWER (by Instructor Michael Anderson):
Jeeezzz...when learning to play, it ALWAYS HELPS to have an INSTRUMENT! :\ But to answer your question, YOU select the tunes you will play. Although I will offer suggestions, you should make a list of tunes YOU enjoy and would like to learn. Many of those tunes will be very easy; others more difficult. If you want to play London Bridge, it's YOUR CHOICE...not mine! You should be able to apply Piano Magic principals to most any music you like. Hope this answers your question. ***** Michael Anderson

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Hi, Mike will advise you on a keyboard or piano depending on what you would like...obviously you will need something to play on. The whole idea of this course is to enable you to play any song you like....by ear! So you are not limited to playing "Mary had a little lamb" or "London Bridge..." you can play any song you like...that's what so great about the course! You're not tied to playing those ghastly songs you get in first course Piano books....With this course you can play anything your heart desires...I guess your only limitations with out being to corny...is your imagination!! Andy

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
No --you are NOT limited. You can transfer the particular style chosen from a number of available styles, to whatever tune you like. You have to start with simple tunes, of course, but you progress using the METHOD. LOGS

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
get yourself a keyboard...and then you can learn how to play any song...but, youi will start with simple songs at first

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
I am starting to accompany myself using the 145 or the 1625 chords.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
You need a piano or keyboard. I think keyboard is the best way to start but get one that sounds good. It will make you sound even better than you are. You pick your own music to play. Piano Magic works for about any song I know and I don't need sheet music. The songs you already know are the songs you will play. Jim

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Personally, I think you need acess to a keyboard from a very early stage, as you'll want to keep trying things out. You will be playing "good songs" before you know it "incredibly tricky" songs take a little longer but still become possible, once you've grasped the basics. Buffy (UK member)

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
When I took Mike's first introduction course through our local college I was so nervous and thought "I'll never be able to play anything more than simple hunt and peck sounds". However, when I got home and felt more at ease and began to implement Mike's suggestions I just couldn't believe what I could do. My friends have been so impressed at what I have accomplished. ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Mike has just recently added Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and This Old Man to PMMO bringing the total to FOUR SONGS!!!. I’m kidding. ;) Michael teaches how music, any music, thinks. PMMO will show you how to simplify ANY SONG, so that you can play it by ear. Once you can play the melody and basic major chords of ANY SONG, PMMO will show you how to EASILY add decorations to the song and play like YOU want to play it. To me, this is musical freedom and PIANO MAGIC.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
If you have never played before, this is a good starting point for you. Get a cheap keyboard first and you will start hitting those songs that you like. You can start with London Bridge and Mary Had A Little Lamb first. Why not? And then from there to go on to play all your favorites. There is NO LIMIT of songs you can play if you follow the methods laid out and this Piano Magic Method is NOT seen anywhere else in the world. Go for it. I did. NO REGRETS AT ALL. Rosa

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Listen/watch some of the demos that Mike has provided (like the demo of Michael Row the Boat Ashore, going from simple to more and more 'complex') as well as the material emmailed in by the students and then you be the judge.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Without a piano? How about a keyboard. I think you'll want to get one. You will only be limited by your desire. This is what I have found in this course. Oh, it will also help to be able to hum some tunes you like too.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Well, you're definitely going to need a keyboard of some kind, right? And you haven't lived until you hear and watch what Mike (and his students!) can do with a song like "Michael Row the Boat Ashore"! But yes, you'll be able to play any song you can hum, whistle, or sing. Randy V.
