QUESTION 7 (by a visitor to PianoMagic.com):
Is your course for beginners?

ANSWER (by Instructor Michael Anderson):
PMMO is for Beginners with no prior experience, as well as musicians who have played for many years - but never learned to play with FREEDOM from written music! There is nothing wrong with reading music, but neither is anything wrong with simply playing...FREE of music! ***** Michael Anderson

You know the cool thing about this site....it's for begginers. It's for people who have been playing for years. It has no limitations to age; gender or ability, the only common desire you need is to "play by ear"! Andy

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Yes!!! But it's a LOT more than that. We are a mix of students at ALL levels of playing, but almost all of us have found that it is SO IMPORTANT that we really understand the Basics, and then, moving forward becomes easy.Rusti

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
I was able to read music but not play be ear before taking this course. It assumes that you know nothing about reading or playing music. Just get an instrument to play on.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Absolutely. In fact I have found that my extensive knowledge of music has been a detriment.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
I had taken private lessons for only two months when I started Mike's program. I was amazed at what the teacher could have taught me in a lot less time. I definitely recommend Mike's course for beginners. Pam Shedd

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
YES! I took piano lessons as a child, but many of my fellow members in PMMO are BEAUTIFULLY PLAYING the songs they want to play with no instruction other than PMMO. Michael presumes no previous musical knowledge whatsoever, and you can work at your own pace with LOTS of support from Michael Anderson and the PMMO members. This is truly a different kind of course, a course for seekers that desire musical freedom via the piano or keyboard.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Yes, the course is for beginners, for all beginners who are starting out to 'play by EAR'. Though I've played the piano for 20 years but only with music sheets so I am a beginner when it comes to playing by EAR. If you are like me who have a lot of experiences and think that this course is tooOOO EASY, you are mistaken. But if you are a total beginner to piano with no knowledge of music theory nor prior music experiences, don't worry, because there are NO MUSIC JARGONS in these lessons. You will understand every word of it even though you have never touched a piano nor read a music sheet. Rosa

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
This course is for anyone who wants to learn to play piano/keyboard by ear. I'm a grandma who has wanted to piano all my life. I took a few lessons way back, but just got weary of those same old two boring pieces I was trying to perfect, and of course if you took my sheet music away I was lost. I had checked out many courses on the net - and then I came to Piano Magic. I joined. It was like receiving the 'KEY' to the Magic Kingdom of piano. Within a week a could play several songs, using basic major chords, and paying close attention to 'How Music Thinks.' The more I play - the more songs I experiment with - the better I get. If you dream of playing by ear, you've come to the right place to realize your dream. Best of all - IT'S FUN! Joan Hall Hovey

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
I am the 'beginnerist' of beginners and feel like I am learning and progressing.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
YES, YES, YES!

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Yes. Yes. And yes. And in all honesty, it sure seems to me that those with the least amount of prior experience are those who learn the quickest! That's so not fair! But there's little or no unlearning on their part, right? Randy V.

ANSWER (by a Piano Magic Member):
Mike's course starts out by stating that there are 88 keys on a standard piano, and he illustrates this point by showing a diagram of 88 WHITE KEYS. WHAT?!!! He then goes on to explain that like the weeks in a year, oonly 52 of the keys are white, the other are black. He explains that the black keys help the student to identify and find notes (tones). The course progresses to how to build a melody, how to create and play chords, when to use chords, and the list goes on. There are no scales to learn, no chords to remember, no drudgery of hard practicing. This is a FUN course. "IS THE COURSE FOR BEGINNERS?" An abslute YES, but the more knowledgable players wil also benefit by the contents of the later chapters. In my opinion, a MUST for anybody wanting to play the piano. (FLABOB, a Student).
